Are You Making Progress Toward Your Goals?

In my last post, I talked about identifying issues and planning for the year. Although it may be hard to believe, we are already one quarter through 2022, and one or more of the goals you set for yourself might have fallen by the wayside. Now is the perfect time to check in on your goals — and you can do so by using this simple exercise: 


Have you made progress towards reaching your yearly goals? If the answer is no, you may want to ask yourself why that is. It may be that you just haven’t dedicated enough time towards reaching these goals, or you may find that the original goals you set for yourself at the end of last year are no longer aligned with your current business objectives. If any of your goals have fallen off track, take some time to reflect on the reasoning behind it. 


With Q2 being well underway, now is the time to get ahead of any obstacles that may be in your path when it comes to achieving your goals. Once you are done reflecting on why your goals have fallen off track, it’s time to come up with a plan of action. If you identified that the reason you haven’t progressed toward your goals as you hoped to is a lack of time management, be proactive and place blocks on your calendar over the next few months to ensure you have dedicated time to work on them. Planning ahead is crucial when it comes to achieving your goals on time. 


Now that you have reflected on and revised your plan to achieve your goals, it is now time to prioritize them. You may have set 2 goals for yourself for 2022, or you may have a entire laundry list of items you wished to achieve. Whether you have 2 goals or 10, you need to rank them in order of importance. If you fail to work through the most important goals first, you are doing yourself a disservice in the long run. It will be Q4 before we know it, and you don’t want to find yourself looking back on the year and wishing you spent more time working through the goals that were most important to you and the business. As the old saying goes, quality over quantity. 

This exercise only takes a few minutes to complete, and it can be done at any point throughout the year. It is a great way to hold yourself and your team accountable, and will give you a plan of action to get the year back on track.
