The Beautiful Mosaic of Small Companies
I was looking out the window of our Buckhead office as I let my brain wander.
“What should I write about? What do people want to hear? What do I have to say this morning…”
Our office sits on Piedmont Road & I can look out the window and see the constant traffic passing by. And this thought hit me:
Each & every person driving by our office contributes to the ecosystem of business in Atlanta.
As my mind wandered further, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the experience I’ve had serving, learning from, talking to, pitching, teaching, and meeting small companies in Atlanta.
Over the last 5 years, I’ve lost count of the number of individual businesses I’ve been in a room with. It has to be over 1,000, but that’s just a guess.
Then these words hit me: Beautiful Mosaic.
I’ve become fascinated with the Beautiful Mosaic of different companies’ models, products, services, and people throughout this area.
Companies that manufacture the concrete cases you walk over each day on the sidewalk
Companies that make those tumblers you see at Target
Companies that manage real estate
Companies that manage lawns
Companies that make beer
Companies that make mobility vans
Companies that ensure stuff gets across the globe
Companies that move money
Companies that move documents
Companies that create events
Companies that fix roofs
Companies that build technology for sales teams
Companies that give your kids places to play
Companies that give shelter from storms and the cold
Companies that store your stuff
SO SO SO different – but they all come together to create an incredible marketplace, a beautiful mosaic of small companies.
This is not a world you often see working in Corporate America. And it’s a world you have to pause to see.
I hope this little post serves as an encouragement to all those reading who are contributing to this mosaic – keep truckin’.
It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it.
We are so proud to be a part.
