Stand Out in the Battle for Top Talent
We already know how tough the labor market is right now. I’ve shared before about how important it is to get the right people on your team, but today I wanted to hit a few ways to stand out and compete for that top talent for your business.
Like you, we are in a fierce battle for talent and have adopted a few tactics to be better equipped and stand out in a crowded market. Here are a few of the things we’ve done to help us stand out:
- Remember how important your values are when it comes to attracting and recruiting the right talent for your business. Head over here to read more about that.
- Create content that best represents your company culture and bring it to life visually. Videos work great here and they don’t have to be professionally produced to be compelling. Be genuine and authentic. Capture moments in the office, or if you are virtual, get your team involved. Have them take photos of themselves from home to compile content for sharing in your recruiting efforts. You can see an example from our team below.
- Take a new perspective when creating or updating your job posting. Really think about your audience – who you are trying to attract? What motivates them? What are they looking for in a role? And then speak to those things.
- Try new places to find talent. Posting on your website alone won’t get you in front of the right people like it used to so think outside the box. LinkedIn should be the first place you go to post and promote your open position. 95 job applications are submitted through LinkedIn every second, and 3 people are hired every minute. Next, think back to who you are trying to attract. Where are they? And don’t forget to tap into your network. Sometimes the best talent can be just one degree of separation from you.

These are just a few simple tactics to consider the next time you need to fill a role on your team. At the end of the day be authentic, don’t be afraid to show your culture and look at things through the eyes of your target talent to best reach them in this challenging talent market.
